Eighteen-year-old Raymond Joseph, of Third Street, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, was yesterday placed on a two-year bond requiring him to refrain from any unlawful behaviour.
This after the youth appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer charges of offensive and disorderly behaviour.
It is alleged that on Sunday last, in the vicinity of Herstelling, the defendant began using profane language and engaged in disruptive behaviour. Reports further stated then when onlookers admonished Joseph and threatened that they would summon the police, the accused menacingly replied that the police “can’t lay hands on me”. He was later apprehended by a police rank.
When the magistrate asked Joseph if he had any explanation for behaving in such an unruly manner, he responded that he was intoxicated at the time and blamed it on alcohol he had been consuming.
The magistrate then placed him on bond.
