Pele oppose Conquerors, Flamingo face Camptown
By Franklin Wilson
When the Cellink Premier League (CPL) continues this evening at the Tucville ground, all the teams on show will be aiming for a solid result cognizant that every point at this stage will be vital as the league winds down.
The Fruta Conquerors/Pele main attraction will see the home team aiming to increase their points tally as they currently lie fourth in the standings on 13. Pele, who has been enduring some torrid times, will have their work cut out against the home side.
While they boast a number of solid players on paper, Pele have still been struggling on the field and failing to secure valuable points. This evening’s match-up against a predominantly young Conquerors side will answer lots of questions, the main one being their desire to rise above their current dismal form.
Captain, Dirk Archer along with Okeney Fraser, Travis ‘Zorro’ Grant and former goalie Shemroy Arthur who now plays out will all have to work hard if they are going to deny the home team another win.
Veterans Lester ‘Puppy’ Peters and Gerald Gritten will be at the helm of Conquerors’ quest for full points backed up by their young brigade which include Captain Joylon Harry, Devon Forde, Gavin De Costa and Trevon Lythcott.
Opening play this afternoon features Camptown who are currently on 24 points the same as the Guyana Defence Force being challenged by bottom of the table Flamingo.
While Flamingo are at the bottom, they have been playing attractive football in this second round and have been leading the more established teams but their lack of experience at critical times during matches especially in the final 15-20 minutes, have cost them dearly.
Camptown will be hoping to take care of business easily but any complacency this evening will be capitalized upon by their opponents. An interesting game is anticipated.

Both sides will be aiming for a win as they seek to join Uprising, Thomas United, Riddim Squad and Santos who all registered wins when the competition kicked off on Sunday last at the same venue.
