A 43-year-old doctor was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on Saturday after his motor vehicle plunged into a nearby canal at UG access road.
The doctor, who was identified as Dr. Devindra Rambertan 43, is at present nursing two broken legs and other lacerations to the body.
He is being treated in the GPHC’s High Dependency Unit.
When this newspaper visited Rambertan, at the hospital he was still heavily sedated and was receiving intravenous drips.
Kaieteur News understands that the doctor was heading to Mahaica when he lost control of his vehicle following a collision with another car.
Both vehicles ended up side by side in a canal.
Dr. Rambertan was pulled out of his car by public spirited persons and taken to the hospital.
The doctor’s vehicle has been impounded at the Sparendaam Police Station. (By Latoya Giles)
