A post mortem examination performed on 78-year-old Eileen August earlier this week gave her cause of death as a Thromboembolism. This is the formation of a clot in the blood. The clot if left untreated would break loose and plug the gastrointestinal tract which may lead to a stroke in the brain.
The report further indicates that Thromboembolism was due to the injuries she sustained to her right leg.
The 78-year old woman who was involved in an accident some three weeks ago died earlier this week at the Georgetown Hospital. August was struck down by a callous driver on July 27; the driver never took the elderly woman to seek medical attention. Instead the driver reportedly took the seriously injured woman to his grandmother’s funeral. His mother and sister were also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
If that wasn’t enough the man allegedly took the woman, who was heading to the Bourda Market when accident happened, to do her shopping.
The driver then took the elderly woman who had sustained a broken femur bone and a broken right leg to her lot 704 West Ruimveldt Home and placed her in a rocking chair. The woman remained there for 11 days after worried relatives went searching for her. She was found sitting in her own flit. She was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Investigations carried out by the police later located the driver’s sister and mother who were both detained for questioning. The two women were later placed on station bail and also admitted to the police that they were passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
The vehicle was found at the man’s home at Parfait Harmonie.
