At the conclusion of the Guyana Watch medical outreach programme, its President, Tony Yassin, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the co-operation received by all and sundry for the successful completion of this 17th annual mission.
The team of 12 United States based doctors and 17 support staffers as well as local support personnel, attended to close to 3,000 adults and children across the country.
Mr. Yassin noted that this year’s activity saw significant improvement in the delivery of their paediatric cardiology programme. Of the 56 patients seen in this area, 16 were identified for heart surgery.
Echocardiograms were completed on 14 children at the Caribbean Heart Institute (CHI) by Dr J. Sharma, the team’s paediatric cardiologist and Mr. Jason Solomon a Cardio Technician at the Caribbean Heart Institute.
The team was also received by Head of State, President Bharrat Jagdeo at the State House where he held a reception in their honour.
