The Scout Association of Guyana yesterday received a cheque from the Guyana Telephone & Telegraph company (GT&T) for one million dollars ($1,000,000) as the body prepares to host the 14th Annual Caribbean Jamboree.
The mega event is slated for August 8-16.
The donation was made yesterday to the Vice President of the Association, Ramsay Ali, during a simple ceremony which was held at the canteen of GT&T’s Brickdam headquarters.
Ali expressed gratitude, on behalf of the association, for what he described as a timely donation.
Meanwhile, in addition to the monetary contribution, the telephone company will be providing WIFI connectivity and computer systems for use at and by the Scouts Secretariat during the event. Also, yesterday, the Guyana Squash Association was presented with a cheque to aid in the team’s participation at the Caribbean Squash Championships.
The team was presented with a cheque for $470,000. The championships will be held from August 17 to 22 in the Cayman Islands.
The money will facilitate three members of the 14-member contingent to participate at the championships, by way of entrance fee as well as providing air tickets for two persons.
The money will also go towards the acquisition of team uniforms on which will be inscribed the Cellink brand.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
