Anguilla based riders Andrew Reece and Sherwin Osbourne are expected to arrive in Guyana today ahead of tomorrow’s Cycling Fiesta in the Bauxite Mining Town of Linden, organised by the Roraima Bikers Club in association with the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation.
The organisers with the assistance of Caribbean Airline have made it possible for Reece to be part of what is expected to be high octane rivalry around the Amelia’s Ward Circuit tomorrow.
Some 11 cycle races are carded for the day which commences at 10:00hrs. There will be one walk race among women 55 years and older. There will also be two open 800m races for both male and female runners.
Cyclists at the senior, veteran, upright and BMX levels will engage each other over varying distances.
Another exciting event is expected to be the Linden bus drivers against their Georgetown counterparts.
The feature race of the day will be the Linden / Georgetown showdown apart from the many individual races which will certainly see riders from both communities aiming to cash in on the attractive incentives.
All the leading riders in Guyana in the various categories are expected to be on show. Corporate support for tomorrow’s Fiesta has come from Western Union’s Bill Express, Church’s Chicken and Bakewell among others. Western Union will be handing out water bottles to all the competitors.
