A known ‘junkie’ (drug addict) appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and ended up in jail for 18 months.
O’Neil Neptune yesterday pleaded guilty to attempting to break and enter. He then sought to explain his action.
On August 3, the convict attempted to break and enter Davi Mohabir’s snackette located in Industrial Site.
When asked to explain himself Neptune told the court that he had eaten some food from the establishment, and subsequently experienced vomiting and diarrhoea.
“I went and buse she up (about the food)…She call people and they beat me.”
The Police Prosecutor told the court that Mrs. Mohabir had left her snackette, and shortly after got a phone call about the attempted break in.
The defendant was caught and the matter was reported. The Prosecutor also told the court that the defendant had several run-ins with the law on previous occasions.
