The respective winners of the just concluded Noble House Goals Galore Indoor Hockey Championships received their prizes yesterday during a simple ceremony which was held at the sponsor’s Head Office, East Bank Demerara.
GCC ‘A’ won the Men’s First Division title, while Hikers Junior Boys grabbed the Second Division crown.
At the presentation ceremony were Finance Manager of Noble House Seafoods Ramroop Jiwanram, who handed over the prizes to the winners, Personnel Manager Piercy Corlette, Acting President of the Guyana Hockey Board Rawl Davson and representative of the teams.
Davson, who is acting in the absence of President Phillip Fernandes extended thanks on behalf of the Board, before calling on them to remain on board for the future.
Jiwanram speaking on behalf of the Company said that would certainly like to remain associated with the tournament, adding that they feel committed to do so because it helps to keep youths off the streets and be involved in an activity that could offer more benefits.
Among the individual winners were Most Valuable Players (First Division)- Devin Hooper of GCC; Shaquelle Assanah of Hikers Juniors; Old Fort’s Kurt Thomas, who was voted Most Promising Junior Boys; GCC’s Athena Seenanon, the Most Promising Junior Girls; Hikers Robert France- Highest Goal-scorer and GCC’s Michael Xavier, who won the Best Goalkeeper award.
