Fortune, Thomas win bronze as Harris misfires
Guyana’s Carifta Games 800m gold medallist Jevina Straker reportedly won the event at the region’s renowned Hampton International Games on Sunday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.
Straker reportedly ran 2:19.42 to win the Girls’ Under-17 race.
The other details of the race are not clear but Kaieteur Sport was able to confirm her position.
National sprint queen Alicia Fortune placed third in the Women’s Open 200m race with 2008 Olympian, United States-based Adam Harris finishing fourth in the male version of the marquee sprint event in Trinidad.
Reyare Thomas won the female 200m event with Nyoka Giles (24.44) in second and Fortune (24.84) third.
Renny Quow claimed the male race in 20.61 with Rondell Sorrillo in third with 20.70 and Jevon Toppin third in 20.85. Harris ran 20.89 for fourth.
Cleveland Thomas placed third in the Men’s Open 1600-yard race in 4:36.32 with Jules La Rode (4:25.25) winning the race and Mathew Hagley (4:34.42) in second.
