In a very competitive Under-15 tournament, Rosignol United tallied 10 points from four matches to emerge as the top team, in the Berbice Football Association Coca Cola sponsored Youth Development Week competition, which attracted five clubs.
New Amsterdam United (NAU) ended as the second best team with eight points, Monedderlust two points back on six, Corriverton Links mustered three points, while Real Union placed fifth with a single point, all the teams playing four matches.
Following are the results of the matches played at the Blairmont CDC ground on Friday last.
NAU beat Corriverton Links 1-0, Devin Boucher scored in the 15th minute.
Rosignol United whipped Monedderlust 3–0. Marvin Erskine (9) and the diminutive Marlon Nicholson scored a brace (14 & 18).
Real Union and NAU played to a 0-0 tie.
Rosignol United disposed of Corriverton Links 2–0. Mohamed Ali (5) and Marlon Nicholson four minutes later, the goal scorers
Monedderlust hammered Real Union 4-1. Jomo Campbell hit in a double with one each from Akimo Watts and Marvyn Humphrey. Real Union’s consolation was scored by Mark Miller.
NAU and Rosignol drew 0-0.
Corriverton Links Steffon Hope struck twice in the 9th and 10th in their 2–0 triumph over Real Union.
Steffon Boucher hit the network twice, Delroy Bullen and Mark Wrong one time each as NAU brushed aside Monedderlust 4–0. Rosignol United edged Real Union 1-0.
Monedderlust rebounded in the final game of the day to pip Corriverton Links 1-0 compliments of a Jomo Campbell effort in the 5th minute.
Rosignol United’s Marlon Nicholson and Monedderlust’s Jomo Campbell ended as the joint top goal scorers with three each, while two other Rosignol players, Dreshaun Bishop and Mohamed Ali shared the spotlight as most valuable players of the one-day tournament, which was played under the auspices of Banks DIH Coca Cola Brand.
The winning team, Rosignol, received one set of Coca Cola uniforms.
