Dexter Lee-Wong of 304 Soesdyke, and Valentine George of 14 Timehri Docks Area, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, jointly charged for assault and unlawful wounding.
Lee-Wong was the bus driver and George, the conductor. It is alleged that the two attacked a fellow Timehri minibus operator, Shawn Sampson, on February 19 last. Reports are that the two operators were arguing over passengers when George appeared and sided with his bus driver.
The argument eventually got violent. George claims that Sampson was the first to attack by choking him. Sampson however claims that he was the one who was attacked first by George who hit him in the face.
The fighters were parted by Sampson’s conductress, Cindy James, who got injured while trying to separate the two.
After listening to both sides of the story, Acting Chief Magistrate, Melissa Robertson placed both defendants on $10,000 bail each for the assault and $20,000 each for the unlawful wounding charges.
