A St. Ambrose Primary School teacher is seeking legal action against two close friends whom he claimed stole from him, items of value on Saturday when he left them in his apartment to conduct other business in the city.
The teacher is claiming that the two friends stole two gold rings valued at $15 000 and $35 000 respectively.
The teacher, Deandre Anderson, of 358, North East La Penitence, Georgetown said that around 13:00 hrs on Saturday, a male friend visited his home to ‘chill out’ as he would normally do.
He said that another associate who would also normally visit the home at intervals later joined that friend.
The teacher said that he was called away from the home on urgent business and as he would normally do, left the two men in the house.
He said as he was out in the streets he remembered the rings he had concealed in a vanity drawer.
Since he was late for an appointment and could not turn back, he ignored alarm bells going off in his head.
On his return home some time later, he somehow forgot to look for the rings and by this time the two friends had left.
Anderson said that he was out of cash and at his sister’s bidding, decided to pawn one of the rings. It was then that he shockingly realised they were gone.
He said that he rummaged the entire apartment but could find no trace of the rings he had secured before he left the home.
The matter has been reported to the police and investigations are ongoing.
