A middle-aged Albouystown man, identified as Jagdesh, is in police custody and all because of a dog. The dog is also at the Brickdam Police Station awaiting a medical examination.
A Tactical Service Unit rank who lives in the same yard made a most interesting discovery yesterday when he ventured to the back of the yard where the man lives after he heard a dog yelping.
He saw this most interesting sight, the man attached to the dog, and immediately called out to the man and warned him of arrest. The man denied doing anything with the dog but there were obvious signs of bestiality.
However, the man, apparently angry at being disturbed, punched the policeman who succeeded in subduing him before handcuffing him. A neighbour told Kaieteur news that the man had tied the dog to a post to make life easier.
It turned out that the man was trusted by the landlord to look over the dog in his absence. The man, who is unmarried, was asked by the landlord to explain how long this was going on but the man would only stare.
Neighbours alerted by the commotion described the dog as the man’s wife, Ms Shepherd. The landlord, not understanding the reason for her name, was told the the first name was German—German Shepherd.
He is likely to appear in court today charged with bestiality.
