The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport will kick off its first Inter-Block Football competition in the Bare Root area on June 26.
The competition will be played at the Paradise ground and include four teams; Melanie, Bachelors Adventure/Paradise, Bare Root and Dazzell Housing Scheme.Parliamentary Secretary in the Sports Ministry, Steve Ninvalle, expressed enthusiasm after being contacted by the Bare Root Community through Representative Aaron Blackman for assistance in staging an event there.
He noted that this was really good for the Ministry’s efforts and the game in general and the programme can only improve in the months and years to come. Ninvalle recently presented some footballs to Blackman for the staging of the competition, which gets underway June 26. Details on the fixtures are to be released shortly.
Meanwhile, Buxton will open their account for this year’s edition on August 9 at the Buxton Playfield on the East Coast.
Household Plus Proprietor Nazeer Hamid had put up $50,000 for the winners of the last competition, Middle Walk. They will look to hold onto their crown but will face stern tests from the other teams.
