Berbice received a quantity of wickets, bats and balls, from the Guyana Softball League (GSL), to assist them in the running off of the Kiddy Care softball tournament geared to attract players at the Under-15 level.
Sponsored by Mike’s Pharmacy, the response towards the tournament has so far been overwhelming with some 14 teams registered.
Action will begin from this area next week. A high standard of play is expected, as Berbice have been known to produce lots of talent.
A Representative of the Berbice organisers, Omeshwar Sirikishun, remarked that this gesture has come at the right time and with this, softball cricket will be resuscitated in the area at the youth level.
He assured that the equipment will be used to uplift the game in Berbice and will go a long way in helping the youths to be more actively involved in meaningful sports and display their talents to the fullest.
