Mahdia businessman Roger Hinds has thrown his full support behind the Milerock Football Club of Linden following an expression of interest in the welfare of the club.
Hinds recently donated a set of football gear to the club. He indicated that he was impressed with the discipline shown by them and since he will be opening a gas station in the Wisroc area it was his duty to be a good corporate citizen to give back to that community in some way.
Being a sports enthusiast, Hinds is expected to officially sponsor Milerock. Bryan Joseph, president of the club, received the gear.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport in an invited comment, Joseph expressed pleasure, noting that the donation was timely. He sited the days when they were ill-equipped during training session and yet still the club was able to grow and become a top performer in Linden and the country.
Joseph said this donation will go a long way and has also evoked an enthusiasm among the players, who are eager to perform at a higher level, grateful for the interest shown by the businessman.
The club president informed that Hinds has also pledged two sets of uniforms which will be presented shortly.
Among the gear handed over were; an assortment of training cones (60), 10 footballs and a magnetic coaching board.
Hinds is a popular businessman in the Mahdia area, who is now spreading his wings to Linden, a major point for travel to the interior. He has also lent tremendous support to sport in the Mahdia area.
Meanwhile, Milerock has been invited to take part in the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport Emancipation programme at Mahdia. The club had visited the area previously, hence the relationship with Hinds. They are to take part in a football tourney to be staged during the Emancipation activity.
