Police are questioning two koker attendants following the theft of a winch from a sluice at Ithaca.
The winch, valued at about $2.2M, reportedly disappeared sometime between Saturday night and yesterday morning.
Kaieteur News understands that the sluice operators told police that the winch, which was acquired only a few months ago, was intact on Saturday when they had opened and closed the sluice.
A source said that efforts were being made yesterday to acquire a new winch to ensure that the sluice is operable.
