They came from as far as Russia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States for a grand family reunion, but the Somersell, Howard and Bess clan took time out to make a timely donation to the Mayor and City Council yesterday.
The family donated a quantity of maintenance gloves and respiratory masks which will go a far way in enhancing the work of the Occupational Safety and Health Department of the Mayor and City Council.
Making the donation on behalf of the family was Dorrett Thomas, who presented the items to City Mayor, Hamilton Green at his office yesterday.
The Mayor said that the Council is extremely grateful for the kindness of the family, assuring that the items will be put to great use.
“What is important today is how you can share your bounty and resources and we are certainly grateful to the Somersell, Howard and Bess tribe and we hope that they will pass on their generosity to succeeding generations,” the Mayor said.
Also present at yesterday’s donation were family member, popular television talk show host, Basil Bradshaw, other relatives and officials from the M&CC, including Occupational Safety and Health Officer, Dale Beresford.
