“People are always looking at you and when you least expect they pounce on you” said Adam Harris, Kaieteur News editor, after his house was burgled Monday night.
On Monday, CARICOM Day, burglars forcibly entered his lot 640 Gibson Street, Tucville home and carted off hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of electronic equipment and other things..
Harris said that the incident occurred between 20:00 hrs and 22:00hrs, while he was at the Kaieteur News office.
“They forced their way into my home and carried away one $140,000 Toshiba laptop, a $300,000 Nikon D 90 Digital Camera, an $83,000 Blackberry 8100, and a $60,000 car Stereo System.”
Further, Harris said he lost about $40,000 worth of assorted liquors along with other small items.”
The evidence revealed that the burglars forced open a grilled window to the back of his house and once inside they opened the back door. “No one in the neighborhood heard or saw anything,” Harris said.
Having forced open the window, the robbers went through the house and opened another door leading out of the house.
Harris said the robbers also tumbled through his wardrobe, but seemed intent on taking only electronics from the house.
Upon returning home at about 22:30hrs the police were called in and have since dusted for fingerprints.
