The police are investigating a shooting incident, which occurred at about 22:00 on Sunday at a Joint Services roadblock at Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
According to a police statement, 33-year-old James Rondel Harding, of First Alley, Wismar, was shot and injured to his left upper thigh by Joint Services Ranks. .
Reports are that Harding was a passenger in a minibus, which was stopped and searched at the roadblock. During the search, Harding had a Guyana Passport which was being examined by one of the ranks, when he snatched the document from the rank and began running.
He was pursued by two members of the Joint Services and subsequently shot in his leg and subdued. A search was conducted in the area where Harding was shot and packets containing a total of 15 grams of cocaine and 70 grams of marijuana were found.
He was taken to the Mackenzie Hospital where he has been admitted as a patient, under guard.
Further investigations are being conducted.
