Republic Bank has donated a sum of $191,168 to the Guyana Blind Cricket Association (GUYBCA) for trophies and special awards, as Guyana steps up preparation to host the 4th annual regional Blind Cricket tournament from July 18-26.
Wednesday the Bank’s Public Relations Officer Jonelle Dummett presented the sponsorship cheque to GUYBCA President and former Guyana First-Class batsman Mark Harper at a simple presentation at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will sponsor the Man-of-The Match trophy while the Guyana Cricket Board has pitched in with a contribution of $400,000 plus added services during the competition and DLL has pledged to provide Gatorade during the Guyana team’s practice sessions and the matches in the competition.
Games will be played at the MSC and DCC grounds in the City in addition to Enterprise on the East Coast of Demerara and Wales on West Bank Demerara.
Joint defending champions Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, also with host Guyana and Barbados battle for supremacy.
