As mega NSBF begins
Marian Academy and Kwakwani Secondary School sent strong messages to their foes in the opening of the mega National Schools’ Basketball Festival (NSBF), yesterday evening, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Marian opened its crusade against East Ruimveldt Secondary School with a 28-21 points win in the Under-19 competition with Tequain Vieira scoring 11 points for Marian and Denzil Nurse leading East with 14 points.
The school then returned in the Under-15 contest to trash Tutorial High School 31-16 in a collective effort. None of the players had double figures in the game. Kwakwani recorded a 20-0 victory against Christ Church Secondary.
One of the tournament favourites, Mackenzie High School and Saint Roses High were in a tense battle up to press time last night.
The tournament will run for eight more days and is expected to conclude on July 5.
