The late Ranji Chandisingh, who departed this life on Monday last will be laid to rest tomorrow after a farewell appreciation of his life at the Umana Yana. The appreciation is scheduled to commence at 13:30 hours.
Sympathisers will be allowed to offer tributes over a 90-minute period before the body is taken to Le Repentir Cemetery for interment.
Chandisingh, 79, was a former Vice President under the Burnham Government, and ambassador to the Soviet Union. According to reports, Chandisingh died quietly in his sleep around 17:30 hrs on Monday, at his Waterloo Street, North Cummingsburg, Georgetown residence. He had been ailing for some time.
He was the son of the late Dr Charles Washington and Amelia Chandisingh.
He wedded Veronica Chandisingh, a union which produced one child, Yuri Chandisingh, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Water Incorporated.
The deceased was the father-in-law of Serome Chandisingh and grandfather of Stacy and Kevin.
