After admitting to the court that he insulted a female police constable, Dellon Braithwaite, was fined $10,000 by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, yesterday.
It was alleged that on Sunday, at Bourda Market, Braithwaite publicly insulted the rank. To the charge he pleaded guilty and offered to give an explanation.
He told the court that the police constable told him to pick up a cigarette butt which he had thrown on the road.
The man said that he complied and when he was finished he proceeded to carry on a conversation with a friend.
“Meh worship I turn and tell me friend that she (the policewoman) does come in de market every day and beg fuh greens fuh carry home and cook fuh she children. Me ain’t tell she nutin ‘bout begging fuh bora and boulanger,” the accused said.
“She hear wha I seh and she feel shame and she just start kicking me up and beating me up and she just lock me up,” Braithwaite told the court.
