Taxi service owner, Fazil Ali, also known as ‘Yuppie’, was granted $250,000 bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Tuesday, on a charge of abduction and assault.
It was alleged that on March 28, last, he abducted Keron Munroe; he was not required to plead to the indictable offence. A second charge states that on the same day he assaulted Munroe. He pleaded not guilty. The prosecution had no objection to bail. Ali is expected to make another court appearance on July 1.
Reports stated that Ali abducted Munroe and took him to Le Repentir Cemetery where he allegedly beat the man. The taxi service owner had alleged that Munroe had taken a quantity of cash from him along with some radio sets while being an employee.
