President Bharrat Jagdeo has warned NCN Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed ‘Fuzzy’ Sattaur, to work along with the Board of Directors.
Yesterday, the Head of State summoned the members of the Board of Directors along with Sattaur to intervene in the apparent friction between the parties.
Kaieteur News understands that the President made it clear that he confirms the members of the Board of Directors and urged that there be cooperation among the body and the Chief Executive Officer.
This newspaper was told that there were a number of complaints by the Board about the behaviour of the CEO and his response to its directives.
On May 12, last, Sattaur was suspended, for ‘insubordination,’ given his refusal to carry out a decision by the Board of Directors.
At the time, Sattaur had vowed to challenge the Board’s decision to suspend him as CEO.
He had reportedly resisted the efforts of the board to re-hire radio producer Mazrul Bacchus, whom he had fired two years ago.
A source told Kaieteur News that Sattaur was openly disrespectful to members of the Board, actually coming to the brink of a fight with a Board member
One day later, President Jagdeo, who holds the portfolio of Minister of Information, intervened and consequently caused the Board of Directors to rescind its decision to suspend Sattaur.
As a result of Jagdeo’s intervention, Board Chairman, Dr Prem Misir by way of letter, informed Sattaur that his suspension was being rescinded.
