Five teams advanced to the next stage of the Georgetown Zone in this year’s Al Sport & Tour Promotions/Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport (MCYS) Primary Schools Windball Cricket Championships which continued on Tuesday, with matches in the Boys category, at the National Gymnasium.
Those in winners’ row were St. Sidwell’s, Monar Educational Institute (MEI), St. Pius, St. Agnes and Smith’s Memorial.
In the day’s full results:
St. Sidwell’s and MEI played to a tie, which meant that they both advance after the organisers decided not to use the one-over bowl-off scenario.
Taking first strike, St. Sidwell’s made 104-4 with Marlon Ford hitting 40 and Ackeem De Souza 26.
In reply, MEI reached 104-2 through a belligerent knock of 75 from Donald Europe.
St. Pius then beat St. Stephen’s by three wickets.
St. Stephen’s posted 71-4 off the allotted 6 overs with Marlon Alleyne 27 and Naresh Samaroo 26, being the principal scorers.
In their turn at the crease, St. Pius reached 72-7 with Troy Carrington and Gavin Lynch each hitting 15.
St. Agnes then beat North Georgetown by six wickets off the final ball of the innings.
North Georgetown made 78-3 with Devin Crandon 26 and A. Forde 16, the batsmen to reach double figures.
St. Agnes in reply ended on 79-4. David Edinboro stroked 35, while Christopher Caddle supported with 27.
Smith’s Memorial defeated St. Andrew’s by five wickets.
St. Andrew’s compiled a challenging 100-4 with La Salle Fraser smashing a quick-fire 79.
Smith’s Memorial chasing 101 for victory, closed on 103-5. Elijah Marks made 36 and Titus Collins added 16. Javid Haniff grabbed 3-19.
The competition continues today, at the same venue.
