Despite their home advantage, Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) were humbled by the Floodlights XI, when the two teams met last Friday night in the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) Ivanoff Vodka sponsored softball match.
Derick Ramoutar led the way for Floodlights XI with a brilliant undefeated 100 and was well supported by Bedi Ramjewan 52 and Ricky Deonarain 56 not out, as they compiled a huge total, 247 for 4, off their allotted 25 overs. Ramesh Ramsaroop was the best bowler for GCC with 3 for 36 off 4 overs.
GCC were always behind the required run rate of nearly 10 runs per over due to some tight bowling and good fielding from Floodlights and were restricted for 187 for 9.
Randolph Giddings 45, Troy Cadogan 38 and Ronald Mootoo 33 not out were the main contributors for GCC.
Ramchand Ragbeer took 2 for 16 and Jailall Deodass 2 for 19, to emerge best bowlers for Floodlights.
Ten trophies were presented for various performances in this match, all sponsored by DDL Ivanoff Vodka.
