A female stallholder at the Magic Mall, La Grange, West Bank Demerara was admitted a patient at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre after two bandits ran amock in the establishment Thursday afternoon.
Amanda Sooklall sustained injuries when one of the bandits struck her in the head with a piece of wood.
An employee of the mall, Tamara Thom, who was also struck in the head was treated and sent away.
Police said that the two men, one of whom carried a gun, the other a knife and a piece of wood, entered the mall around 14:30 hours and struck employee Tamara Thom of Independence Street, La Grange, in her head while she was standing in the passageway.
They took away her cell phone and $2,000 then entered a stall operated by Shaneeza Hussein of Independence Street.
The men held Hussein at gunpoint and took away $25,000 after which they went to the stall of Amanda Sooklall of Triumph, East Coast Demerara, where they lashed the owner to the head with the piece of wood and took away undisclosed articles.
The two perpetrators then stopped a taxi and escaped towards Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.
The police responded quickly and acting on information received, scoured the Vreed-en-Hoop seawall area but did not locate the two men.
They however recovered a handbag belonging to Amanda Sooklall, which contained her personal documents along with 24 wristwatches and 41 cigarette lighters.
