Vikings Cricket Club (VCC) defeated Overseas Cricket Club (OCC) to win by 15 runs when the Canada Premier cricket league got underway over the weekend.
VCC batted first and were dismissed for185 in 48 overs with former Guyana and West Indies ‘B’ team keeper, Kenneth Wong hitting the top score of 44.
Former Guyana and West Indies youth players Zamal Khan (42) and Hemnarine Chattergoon (24) supported well. Skipper Hemnarine Chattergoon and Wong added 64 for the third wicket.
For CCC, Zaid Hussain (4-28), Sorraine Durant (2-29) and Moshin Mulla 2-36 did the damage with the ball.
OCC were bowled out for170, with Jabbar Choudry making 45 and Usman Limbada 30. Former Guyana Under-15 fast bowler Kevin Murray captured 3-29 and Combined Colleges and Campuses all-rounder Ramnarine Chattergoon 2-22, while former Guyana First Class fast bowler Jeremy Gordon and ex-Guyana Captain Damodar Dasrath took a wicket each to see their team to victory.
