Two more suspects have been arrested for the murder of GPL Chief Security Officer, Clifford Peters, and police say one of them has been positively identified as a member of the gang that carried out the killing.
Police said that a 26-year-old man from Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge was picked out by eyewitnesses from a police line-up yesterday.
Kaieteur News was told that the man was a suspect in a previous armed robbery but was not charged.
An official said that the other suspect is from Sophia. Although he was not identified, investigators are keeping him in custody because they had received information that he was involved in the murder.
An official hinted that there might be a surprising development in the case within a few days.
Police have already charged 21-year-old Arnim Griffith, of 17 West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, for Peters’ murder.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson and is due back in court on June 5.
His attorney, Basil Williams, had told the court that his client was charged without any proper evidence linking him to the crime.
Williams also stated that his client has a sound alibi, which would be substantiated during the preliminary inquiry.
Clifford Peters, a retired senior Superintendent of Police, was with a GPL crew removing illegal electrical connections in Lamaha Park when he was attacked by a group of men.
He was shot several times in the head and chest and died before he could receive medical attention.
