Shabana Singh, 28, a parent who allegedly assaulted a North Ruimveldt Secondary School teacher, was remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
It was alleged that Singh on April 29, last, at Woolford Avenue unlawfully assaulted Natasha Paul. She pleaded not guilty and was unrepresented in court.
Singh, who resides at 1081 South Ruimveldt, told the court that she is a nurse aide. She refuted the claim that she assaulted the teacher.
However Natasha Paul stated that she was dealt a hit on her shoulder.
She also contended that Singh grabbed her and hit her.
The teacher said that she was rescued by students who restrained the irate parent. Shabana Singh was remanded and is expected to make another court appearance on May 29.
The teacher had said that the incident stemmed from her restricting the parent entry to the school because of her code of dress.
