Dear Editor,
Last Wednesday I was in Georgetown, and the new grotto that was erected on the lawns of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception caught my eyes, as I was passing.
I had to stop to view the structure — which is so artistically and magnificently done —and also take photographs. It is the only of its kind in the entire Guyana and we Catholics should be proud of that structure erected in honour of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. The entire Brickdam Cathedral itself is one of pride, excellent architecture and sheer beauty.
However, it may be wise to for security measures to be put in place (if there is none so far) to make sure that the grotto stands secure and safe from potential bandits, intruders and mischievous persons who may seek to interfere with the structure.
There have been cases in the past whereby persons have shown no regard for places of worship and elements/objects in places of worship as they desecrate these things.
