Two Rosignol West Bank Berbice men appeared at Blairmont Court yesterday charged in connection with the cutlass attack on 40-year-old cattle and rice farmer, Nnamdi George at Ithaca last week Thursday.
Denis Thomas, 50, and Michael Thomas, 41, was refused bail.
Sergeant Hattie Anthony told Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop that the victim of the attack was still hospitalised in a serious condition.
The men were charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on George during an altercation in the Ithaca back lands on May 14 last.
George was found lying on a mud flat, bleeding profusely from several cutlass wounds, unable to move but conscious, after relatives who were informed of the attack went in search of him.
They followed a trail of blood and found the badly injured man, reliable sources said.
On Monday, Sergeant Anthony told the Court that had it not been for the alacrity of the search party George would have died and the two accused would have been facing a much more serious charge.
The charge was laid indictably and the two men were not required to plead.
They are to reappear at the Blairmont court on Monday.
