A post mortem preformed on the body that was fished out of the Pomeroon River on Friday revealed that the man died by drowning.
His relatives have also positively identified the man as Ofeira Malcolm Thomas.
The four crewmembers with whom the man was when he disappeared into the Pomeroon River have since been released from Police custody.
On Thursday evening Thomas fell into the Pomeroon River while consuming alcohol on a fishing vessel that was moored at the Charity wharf.
Following the incident, the friends with whom Thomas was drinking were taken into custody.
On Friday around 14:30 hours the man’s body was found floating just in the area where he fell.
There were no visible marks of violence except for apparent fish bites on the man’s face and arms.
The man’s body has since been handed over to relatives for burial.
