A man appeared in a West Berbice Court, on Friday, charged with stealing from the Church he attends.
Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop was on Friday last told that Devanand Dwarka of Shieldstown, West Bank Berbice, also known as ‘Milk Mouth’, on Monday allegedly broke and entered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a place of divine worship and stole a computer and accessories valued at $600,000.
Dwarka was said to be a newcomer to the Church based at D’Edward Village, West Bank Berbice, having joined recently.
He was charged with sacrilege and was not required to plead.
Prosecutor Sergeant Hattie Anthony disclosed that the computer and accessories were recovered.
Magistrate Ramroop refused bail and ordered that Dwarka reappear in Blairmont Court on May 29.
