Police are investigating the death of cane harvester Gowrajdei Seepersaud, who is believed to have taken a fatal dose of poison after accusing his wife of having an affair.
Seepersaud, 44 of 188, Gangaram, East Canje Berbice, is alleged to have consumed the substance on Thursday after a quarrel.
According to reports, Seepersaud, who fathered five children, has been accusing his wife who is 39, of having a relationship with one of his friends who resides overseas.
This friend would usually stay at Seepersaud’s home whenever he is in Guyana.
The man was rushed to the New Amsterdam hospital where he succumbed on Friday.
A post mortem is to be performed on the body today.
