The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) will stage the 2009 IAAF World Athletics Day Championships on Sunday May 17, at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary, commencing 09:00 hours.
The day’s proceedings will cater for the Inter-Schools Championship (under-15 as at December 31, 2009) featuring events in the Boys and Girls (Track) – 80m; 150m; 1000m; 2000m Race Walk and (Field) – Long Jump; Shot; Discus events.
Entry is free and each athlete must compete in two events – one Track and one Field. Prizes will be presented to the top three finishers in each event.
Points will be awarded to athletes placing 1 to 6 in each event.
The IAAF Trophy will be awarded to the School gaining the most points.
The Youth division – (under 18 as at December 31, 2009) features events – Boys: 100m; 800m; 3000m; LJ; Shot; Javelin; 3000m Race Walk and Girls: 100m; 400m; 1500m; LJ; Discus; Shot; 2000m Race Walk.
Entry is free and each athlete will only be allowed to compete in one (1) event. Awards will be available for the top three places in each event.
The closing date for entries is Friday May 15, 2009 at “Olympic House” at 12:00 noon. Entry forms can be submitted by Fax or Email.
