Several injured in bus, car collision
One of the vehicles involved in last night’s accident
Several persons sustained injuries, last night, when a car and a minibus collided on the East Coast Demerara Public Road in the vicinity of Vryheid’s Lust, around 20:30 hours.
A passenger of the car sustained the worst and was receiving oxygen at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital up to press time.
Eyewitnesses said that the bus was proceeding east along the East Coast Demerara roadway when the car came out from the Vryheid’s Lust Access Road and slammed into its side.
The eyewitnesses said that it appeared that the driver of the car was under the influence of alcohol and could hardly stand up after he emerged from his vehicle. He is currently in police custody and is likely to face dangerous driving charges.
