Guyana club DCC yesterday beat Wanderers of Trinidad by seven wickets in their first warm-up match in the WIPA 20/20 cricket tournament in the Twin Island Republic.
Skipper and national wicketkeeper Derwin Christian (39) and fellow Guyana player Christopher Barnwell (29) led the Queenstown side to 150-3 off 13.5 overs replying to the hosts’ 149-5 off their allotted 20 overs.
West Indies player Kieron Pollard top scored for the home team with 47 in a losing cause. DCC face Merry Boys of Trinidad in their opening match of the competition May 11. Meanwhile, Guyana player Royston Crandon hit 34 and Barbadian Alcindo Holder 39 for Merry Boys in their victory against Maple in another warm-up game yesterday.
