Invigorated by his outstanding performance last Sunday, Guyana’s top motorbike racer Steven ‘Valentino Rossi’ Vieira, who recently acquired a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600cc cycle, told Kaieteur Sport that even though he still has a lot of work to do in terms of handling the new machine, he feels more confident of squaring off with Canadian Kevin Graham.
Graham, who is a regular feature in Guyana, has been the most dominant rider on the circuit and the local speedster said he is eagerly anticipating renewing the rivalry.
“I’m back and looking forward to meeting with Kevin (Graham) sometime soon and that could be later this month in Jamaica because I heard that he is preparing to go there,” Vieira disclosed.
The bubbly Vieira revealed that he only received the bike last Wednesday and admitted that even though he dominated the proceedings on Sunday, he still has some more work to do to get accustomed to the new set-up.
“Currently I’m preparing to compete in Jamaica later this month and some work still needs to be done, but I’m confident that that will be completed in time to ensure that the meeting is a successful one for me.”
He admitted to making a few errors during the races, but attributed those to not knowing the machine sufficiently, due to its late arrival.
He lauded the local competitors whom he claimed pushed him to the limit, especially Maurice Menezes.
Vieira promised that his fans would see a more dominating rider this year.
He extended thanks to all his sponsors, among which are Gizmos & Gadgets and GT&T Cellink Plus, two entities that have stood by his side for sometime.
