Off-spinner Nakeitho Nester snatched a nine-wicket match haul to lead GNIC to a 10-wicket win against University of Guyana (UG), while Malteenoes batsman Devon McEwan fell seven short of a century against Police as the latest round of the GCA Raymond Panday second division two-day cricket competition ended in the city Sunday. At Eve Leary, the Cops, replying to MSC’s 129, made 223 with Fitzroy Culley making 34 to follow up his five-wicket haul in the MSC innings.
National under-15 captain Shaquelle Williams grabbed 4-49 with his off-spin and got support from Latchman Bissesar who took 2-36.
MSC were 175-5 in their second innings when the game was called off just before 17:00hrs when McEwan, who hit six fours in his innings, was removed by off-spinner Ricardo Devers.
Former Guyana under-15 Captain Kwame Crosse (32) and ex-Guyana under-15 left-arm spinner Denis Legay (21) offered support as Parnell London took 2-10 for the Lawmen.
At the UG ground, Nester took 5-24 and Michael Smith 4-35 as UG were bowled out for 112.
Cylus Gibson (45), Nester (45) and David Rajmangal (24) then led GNIC to 187 before Nester returned to take 4-26 and leg-spinner Smith 3-6 for GNIC who raced to 38-0 and victory with Gibson hitting an unbeaten 36.
