-victim died from shock, hemorrhage
A Morashi labourer is to be charged this week for the murder of 20-year-old bride-to be, Naiomi Singh, whose mutilated body was found behind her home last Friday.
Police have indicated that the suspect, who is in his twenties, has confessed to killing the young woman.
An autopsy revealed that Singh died from shock and hemorrhage after her throat was slashed. A source said that the victim’s neck was almost severed.
The source said that the wound appeared to have been inflicted with a cutlass, which is the information that the suspect relayed to detectives.
Kaieteur News understands that other samples were taken during the autopsy to ascertain whether the victim was sexually assaulted.
The suspect had gone into hiding on Saturday after being informed that he was wanted for questioning. However, he was apprehended in the evening in a house in the Parika backdam. The labourer had worked occasionally with the victim’s father. He has reportedly admitted to having a secret crush on the bride-to be, who was scheduled to be married in June.
