– Leon Moore injured
The catchweight fight between Leon ‘Hurry Up’ Moore and Mark Murray has been rescheduled for a later date following reports that Moore has suffered an injury to his nose during sparring sessions earlier last week.
Head of the Holland’s Entertainment Promotions, Carwyn Holland made this disclosure to Kaieteur Sport yesterday afternoon. He said that in view of this development, he was forced to postpone the card for a later date.
Holland also said that while he is contemplating staging the fight this month end, he would have to await a medical evaluation of the injury before he makes a final decision.
Moore was scheduled to oppose Mark Murray in an 8-round catchweight affair tomorrow at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden. Several other fighters were also disappointed following the news of Moore’s injury.
Among them were Shawn Corbin and Troy Lewis, who were scheduled to oppose each other in a 6-round light/heavyweight affair and Debbie Tyson, slated to fight Sharon Warde in a 4-round catchweight scrap. Cecil Smith was scheduled to fight Cassius Matthews over 6 rounds.
Another fight, a grudge match between and popular Lindener, Fahaad “The Linden Giant” Ali and “Big Bad” Shawn Harris of Georgetown was also scheduled to whet the appetites of boxing buffs.
The promoter has promised an early release of the new date after Moore’s injury receives medical evaluation.
