As race day gets closer, most of the country’s top horses have already booked their places for the May Day horserace meet organised by the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sport facility in collaboration with the Delmur Shipping Company, scheduled for its facilities at Alness Village Corentyne, Berbice on Sunday May 3, beginning at 13:00 hrs. This will be the entities second race meet for the year. The feature event will see the horses battling in the B class event over 1400m for a first prize of $300,000 compliments Of Banks DIH Limited.
The three years old open gallop will also be over 1400m for a top prize of $200,000.
The F class horses will be going over a distance of 1300m for a winning purse in excess of $150,000. The four other races are the G and Lower 1400m the I and Lower, J and lower along with the L and lower events are all 1100m sprints.
Among some of the leading horses expected to blaze the trail are Miss Republic, Delmur Gold, La Bayamosa, The Message, Isle Be True, Annie’s Playmate, Coconut Boy, Sweet Romance, The Gap, Face D Music, Alphabet, World Class, Fire Power, Finishing Touch, Tropical Passion, Royal Champion and Brown Boy who will all be battling for champion honours on the day.
The organizers are reminding horse owners that they should have their horses properly registered as soon as possible with the Guyana Horses Racing Authority. They also disclosed that five horses must start before the third prize is paid.
