Jasmattie Ali, who was held on Tuesday last after her home in 19th Street Foulis, East Coast Demerara was destroyed by fire, has been charged with arson.
Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus remanded the woman to prison on Wednesday last after making an appearance at the Cove and John Magistrates Court.
Ali who had admitted to setting fire to the house, which she shared with her husband and one-year-old daughter, is expected to make her next court appearance on May 6.
Meanwhile, the owners of the house which was destroyed, according to reports, are saying that they would not offer any evidence against the woman if she or her husband, is willing to repay them for the house.
On Monday night last, some time after 22:00 hours, fire destroyed the house which Jasmattie Ali shared with her reputed husband Mangal Budram, their one-year-old daughter.
Ali had told this newspaper that at the time of the fire she was sleeping at a neighbour and had no idea how the fire started.
However, there was an eyewitness who claimed that he saw the woman set fire to the house.
