“The Guyana Defence Force hereby acknowledges the impropriety regarding the fact that a player who did not meet the requirements, was fielded in its football team which played the semi-final game against Pele FC, in the inaugural Milo under -21 tournament last week.
The GDF regrets this infraction and wishes to apologize to the Georgetown Football Association and all other stakeholders. The Force wishes to assure all and sundry that such behaviour is not sanctioned by its administration.
An investigation into the matter has been launched, and those found culpable shall be disciplined.
The GDF remains committed to ensuring the display of a high degree of discipline and to the firm adherence to the highest principles and ideals generally and in sport. The Force will work to ensure that such an infraction will not recur in the future.”
