A 33-year-old pedal cyclist from Number 12 Village Squatting Area, West Coast Berbice was yesterday added to the list of road fatalities in Guyana so far for the year.
Narine Persaud was struck down by a car on the Bath Public Road about 09:40 hours.
Police in a press release said they are investigating the accident and have detained the driver of the motorcar.
According to the police, Persaud rode out from an access road unto the main road and was struck down by the vehicle.
The police did not say if he rode into the path of the vehicle.
Persaud was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
