A 53-year-old man, of Karawab, Lower Pomeroon River, who admitted to police officials on the Essequibo Coast that he impregnated one of his nine children, a 16-year-old, who is carrying his child, was yesterday refused bail by Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty.
The man was charged indictable with incest.
According to a police report, the 53-year-old farmer, between September 1 and September 8, repeatedly engaged in sex with his 16-year-old daughter at their home, when both daughter and father were alone at the residence.
A police source said that during questioning, the accused also related that on several occasions he took his daughter into a room and related the story of the character Lot to her.
He said he told his daughter that ‘Lot had many wives and would simultaneously have sex with them.’ He further told her that ‘Lot also had two daughters whom he had sex with.’
The report stated after the man had finished relating his story he then proceeded to ask his daughter to have sex with him. The report stated that on four occasions in September, the father had sex with his daughter.
Assistant prosecutor Nauth objected to bail on the grounds that the accused resides in the same house with his daughter and their lies a possibility that he would tamper with the witness.

According to a police report, on Friday last at Charity, the wife of the accused reported the matter to the police after she noticed her daughter’s belly was swelling. The girl is six months pregnant.
The man will next appear at the Charity Magistrate’s Court in May.
